Nielsen's inaugural Rural Survey highlights the strength of rural titles in the farming community. Regional dailies have high penetration amongst farmers in their region - Taranaki Daily News reaching 93.7% of the market - Southland Times 91.7%, The Press 68.5%, The Waikato Times 65.4%. Nielsen launched a world-class online measurement system, Nielsen Online Ratings, in New Zealand in July; making us amongst the first countries to provide robust metrics that capture internet use measuring people from all sources and devices.
The new system measures people not computers and in this respect is similar to the currency used to measure television, People Meters. Nielsen Online Ratings will allow us to see which sites are most visited by New Zealanders.
