NZ newspapers performed solidly at the 2017 PANPA (Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers Association) regional Asia-Pacific Advertising & Marketing Awards, held in Sydney last night, winning the supreme awards in five major categories.
The NZ Herald picked up two, both in the National/Metro division: One in the Digital/Best Microsite/Native Advertising category for Brand USA First Stop Freedom; the second in Print Advertising/Best Print Campaign for a Client for House of Travel Creative Shapes.
The Wanganui Chronicle excelled in the Regional section, taking out two supreme awards: One in Digital/Best Single Ad for a Client for Jet Sprints – Shelter View Promotions; the other in Print Advertising/Best Feature for Celebrating Whanganui.
And Wairarapa Times-Age operations manager/designer Bevan Wills won an individual design award in the Executive Excellence/Creative Services Professional of the Year category.
These awards are run by NewsMediaWorks, a not-for-profit industry body established to advocate the cultural influence and commercial value of print and digital news media in Australia. It was founded in 2006 by Fairfax Media, News Corp Australia and Seven West Media (West Australian Newspapers).
